Makin Architecture were one of 6 finalists in this International Design Competition. Bounded by the River Irwell and Trinity Way the site was vacant and overgrown so design ideas were invited for a mixed use scheme by developers Urban Splash in conjunction with Salford City Council. Simple rectilinear blocks of varying sizes and materials are arranged to create a series of interconnecting courtyards. Apartments are raised off the ground above retail, leisure and work uses and are screened with materials inspired by those currently found on the site.
